About Open Mat Index
Finding a
good gym
shouldn’t
be this hard.
Martial arts information is scattered everywhere. A gym might have a Facebook page from three years ago, a website with no schedule, unclear pricing, and nothing that tells a beginner what to expect walking through the door.
Open Mat Index exists to fix that. We are building a practical directory and media platform for people who want to find real training near them — BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, wrestling, judo, boxing, kids programs, and more — all in one place.
We are built by martial artists who care about the culture and want to make it easier for students, parents, hobbyists, veterans, and competitors to find the right gym without the guesswork. No fake rankings. No paid-listing bias. Just useful, honest information.
Our Mission
Help people find real martial arts training near them — and help gyms get found by the right students.
What we cover
Honest listings
Paid placement is marked. Money doesn’t make a gym look better than it is.
Built for real people
Beginners, parents, competitors, and vets all belong here.
Always updating
Gyms can claim and correct their listings. We track sources and dates.
Community first
We are part of this culture — not just indexing it from the outside.
